How can i take the transmission out of a 2000 cougar front wheel drive?
To start with you are going to have to remove one of the front axles. Then go under the car and, take off the inspection plate and locate the bolts holding the flywheel. it will be necessary to rotate the engine slowly using a socket on the center crankshaft to find and remove all of them. disconnect all cables and lines going to the trensmission. Unbolt the transmission from the engine bell housing all the way around. take off the motor mount next to the front wheel area frame. Check to make sure you are disconnected all the way around and slowly pry the transmission from the engine. Aslo I think you will need to remove the starter. You should be able to hoist it out. Take it slow to make sure you don't break or tear anything up. Good luck. Also plug the hole the axle was in with a rag or something to keep from getting dirt in it and to keep from pouring transmission fluid all over the place.
