Looking to build a ported subwoofer enclosure for 2 kenwood 12' W3012 subwoofers and I would appreciate help on the box dimensions because I need to know the measurements for proper tuning?
Go towww.kenwoodusa.com, hold your mouse pointer over support, select car entertainment, then click the link to Owner's Manuals. Use the pull down menu to select your speakers. The manual will contain Kenwood's recommended box specs for sealed and ported enclosures. The benefit to the 3012 over the old 3011 is the box is spec'd for a slot port which will be easier to build. After getting the specs you can use box calculators to "reshape" the box if Kenwoods recommendations don't fit in your car. I recommend using the box calculator found at www.reaudio.com it will allow you reshape your box and port dimensions to fit your car while maintaining proper box volume and tuning for your application.Once you have your box design for the one speaker drafted out you can mirror that for the other side compensating for wood thickness when figuring overall cut dimensionsKenwood's recommended box volume for the KFC-W3012 in a ported enclosure is 1.5 cubic feet per speaker, Fs = 31hz.
