In which famous building is the last night of the proms held at?
This is the Royal Albert Hall, in the Knightsbridge area of the City of Westminster, in the centre of London. It was built between 1867 - 71 and was originally to have been named The Central Hall of Arts & Sciences, but Queen Victoria (who laid the foundation stone at a special ceremony) requested that the name be changed to the Royal Albert Hall in honour of her late concert, Prince Albert, who had died only a few years beforehand. Since it's opening, it has been the venue of thousands of concerts of all different genres, from Wagner to big band jazz to punk, and is one of London's most famous and well-loved civic buildings. A huge festival was held there to celebrate the British Empire in 1936, and it has been the venue for the annual Proms concerts since 1941.Specially designed discs were fitted to the ceiling in 1969 to improve the venue's acoustics; that same year, the British rock band The Moody Blues did a famous concert there, which was recorded and released as an album.
