There may have been some operant connection the Mohawk airline operated almost entirely between Newark NJ and various points in upstate NY as did the Mohawk Division ( using GCT as a Base facility) Upstate New York) There was talk that (if you can"t fight em join "em the NY Central Railroad had some financial involvement in the Mohawk airlines- they always used the plural term though it was one line, not a series of different transit routes like, say United. Mohawk (airlines) went out of business in l972 so it is rather a moot point. they operated DC-3"s well into the sixties so had some historical fans due to obsolescent material.
