Shakespeare most popular form of public entertainment apart from drama?
We do not have business accounts or ticket sales figures from the Shakespearean period (or at least, not often) but some other popular entertainments included street performers (jugglers, conjurors, fire-eaters), bear-baiting (and cock-fighting and dog-fighting), and dancing displays.
Will Kempe - who was an actor with Shakespeare's troupe the Lorc Chamberlains Men at one time - danced all the way from London to Norwich, then wrote a book about it which made him a very rich man.
We still have a tune from the era - Kempe's Jig - which commemorates this event.
