most famous or best? best player would have to be either Bill Russel who has 5 NBA MVP awards, a title only given by Kareem Abdul Jabbar (6) and Michael Jordan (5). My other answer would be Larry Bird, who is the only NBA player who won 3 NBA MVP awards in a row, in addition to being hands down the greatest white player of all time, no arguments. But Most famous once again i have to say Larry Bird. Over 20 years since he has played and still people of a younger generation know who he is.
