There is no legal separation in Florida. Mental Health issues are one way of not being able to proceed easily for a divorce. If he is checking himself in and not under the advice of a physician, then no you would probably not be responsible. Until he is declared mentally incompetent I do not be necessaries will fall into place. If you sue for divorce, of course, you will have to file here as he would be the respondent and you must file in the place of the respondent unless he waives jurisdiction.
