Question

If you co-sign a loan for a car, and you basically pay for it, and the other owner suddenly starts to have unexplained seizures, who is is responsible if there is an accident. The person is told that they should not drive for six months after a seizure but continues to do so.

Answer

Co-signing is NOT the same as co-owning a car. By-co-signing, you are saying in effect to the lender "go ahead and make the car (or other) loan because if the primary borrower does not pay I will."

This has nothing to do with ownership. Whoever owns the vehicle can be sued if anyone (including the owner) drives the vehicle and causes an accident.
