What are green cars?

What are green cars?
Environmently friendly, low /no emission at the tailpipe.

Green cars are cars which have a lower impact on the environment.

The main measure that people use is tail-pipe CO2 emissions as this is a greenhouse gas and has an impact on climate change. Cars with tail-pi Save pe CO2 of less than 100g per km are generally considered to be "green".
Tail-pipe CO2 is important but only part of the answer. Other emissions, such as Carbon Monoxide (CO), oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and particulates (PM) are also important as they affect air quality.

In addition it is important to measure the whole lifecycle impact of a car, not just the usage costs. These elements can be combined into a single Green Car Rating.

Green cars can be low emission versions of petrol or diesel cars or can be run with a different technology such as electric, hybrid (part conventional engine / part electric battery) fuel cell cars, LPG or CNG.
