Question

In September of 2013 I was performing my court directed work release with Caltrans and was injured in an automobile accident. I was instructed to see a Doctor by Caltrans, which I did , and was released by their Doctor after several visits. Iam still in pain from the accident. I have not been able to return to complete my work program with caltrans because I am unable to stand for longer than 20 minutes without pain and truthfully I think Im afraid of the freeway now, although I know that sounds silly. What should I do?

Answer

You should be represented for the third-party claim. As an attorney, I connect my clients to high-quality medical care on a lien basis, meaning that they don't need to have health insurance. Your injury sounds very serious and you should be entitled to significant compensation. I encourage you to call me right away and we can go over the details of your case. The consultation is free, so call (877) LION FOR LAW (546-6367) or email me at [email protected]/* */

Answer

You need to consult with a worker's compensation attorney. Injuries that occur while on court ordered work detail are exclusively covered by the worker's compensation system.

Answer

You need to contact the court and tell the court representative you have been injured while carrying out the work sentence-- and that it has interfered with your ability to carry out your work sentence. This is important, so that a warrant is not issued for your arrest, or other punishment being issued for failure to complete your work sentence. Get a response in writing from the court and take down the name of the person you speak to at the court. Being afraid of the freeway may be an indication of post-traumatic stress syndrome and you should be evaluated by a therapist and/or medical doctor to see what help they can give you. Your workers compensation should be available to help you with this. If they are not amenable to helping you with any of your medical conditions or injuries arising out of the work sentence accident immediately, you should contact a worker's compensation attorney to represent you immediately, You should probably do this anyway. I hope that you make a speedy recovery. Kind regards, Ben Glen
