The throttle sticks on my 2001 Ford Escape XLT 2WD 6 cylinder when I accelerate from a stop not when the car is already moving?
Is there a big thump when it releases? It sounds like you may have A broken motor mount.I too have this problem on mine and have not been able to address it - I have cleaned the throttle body, lubed the cable from both ends, and have adjusted the striker that holds throttle plate to move it off its resting place, and all to no avail, very irritating
anyone?>
There is a recall for this issue of the throttle sticking. You can contact ford at: 1-866-436-7332 (you will need your VIN when you call) or go to your local dealer's website and click on recall info and enter your VIN. You will get info on the recall. This recall does not expire and is a completely free repair for the owner. Your dealer will replace the defunct accelerator cable. I just had mine fixed today. There is also a Powertrain Control Module Re-calibration recall that came out at the same time.
